MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The search continues for a missing 69-year-old Murfreesboro woman, who was last seen before she went shopping Thursday.
Murfreesboro police found Marsilene Smith's Lincoln sports utility vehicle Friday morning in a Wal-Mart parking lot on Rutherford Boulevard. Smith was not inside the vehicle.
Investigators said Smith called her husband around 1:30 p.m. to tell him she was going Christmas shopping around town.
Smith is a diabetic who depended on insulin.
Her husband Glover Smith called police when his wife didn't return home.
"Whether somebody abducted her, I think that started it because I think if she had a reaction, she would have gone somewhere to get something to drink or eat," he said. "Or maybe, under the circumstances, she can't go get it now."
She owns a cell phone that she took with her, but police said there weren't any calls made from it since her disappearance.
Two towers in Murfreesboro have detected a signal from the phone's GPS tracking device, but investigators cannot find it someone uses the phone.
"It could be that this is the result of foul play," said Kyle Evans, an officer and spokesman for the Murfreesboro Police Department. "We're looking into all those possibilities, but it's too early to speculate how that vehicle got there."
Detectives reviewed surveillance video from Wal-Mart Friday.
Smith's daughter LeAnn Barbes said she is worried because her mother cannot go for long time periods without her insulin.
"I'm just afraid that I'll never see my mom again," Barnes said.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents will process the car.
"We've been married 51 years," Glover Smith said. "I don't know what life's going to be like without her. I still hope that she's going to come home."
Marsilene Smith is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 139 pounds. She has short brown/red hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing glasses, a long-sleeved top, a blue-jean jacket, denim jeans and black zip-up boots.

Marcelene Smith of Village Green is an insulin-dependent diabetic and could go into shock if she does not receive treatment, police spokesman Kyle Evans said.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Smith is asked to contact police at 615-893-1311 immediately.
Glover Smith, the missing woman’s husband, reported the woman missing Thursday around 6 p.m. after his wife had not returned home from shopping.
“What’s strange, Mr. Smith said, is that it’s not like his wife to stay out after dark,” Evans said.
Mrs. Smith is 5-foot-4 and has short, brownish-red hair. She was last seen wearing long sleeves, faded blue jeans and boots.
She normally shops at K-Mart, Old Time Pottery, Kroger, Stones River Mall and the Avenue Murfreesboro.
“We’re concerned for her health and general well being. It was a cold night,” Evans said.
